A day on three budgets

Per person per day, excluding flights & the E-visa fee.

The six current Vietnamese đồng denominations (10,000–500,000₫)

Cash vs card

Cash (VND) is king on the street
Street food, markets, small shops & taxis. Withdraw from bank ATMs (TPBank, VPBank) for lower fees.
Cards for hotels & malls
Visa/Mastercard accepted at hotels, restaurants & supermarkets. Notify your bank before travel.
Apps: WeChat Pay & UPI
Accepted at some partner merchants — handy for Chinese & Indian travelers at TVK partners.

Good to know

Tipping — not expected, but appreciated. Round up taxis; $1–2/day for guides & housekeeping is generous.
Big notes — the 500,000₫ and 20,000₫ notes are both blue. Double-check your change.
Bargaining — expected in markets, not in shops or restaurants. Stay friendly; aim for ~30% off the first price.
E-visa fee — government $25–50; TVK service tiers add $0–175 depending on speed.
